Permission for permanent residence is required when a foreign national wishes to reside in Japan on  a permanent basis without limitation by period of stay.

○It does not limit the period of stay.   You don't have to renew it every 1~3 years.

There are several ways to obtain permanent residence visa in Japan

・more than 10 years with Working visa

・more than 3 years Marriage to a Japanese citizen

・Being Long term Resident for more than 5 years

・application format

・photo

・any documents which shows that the behavior and conduct of an applicant is good,

・any documents which shows that an applicant has sufficient assets or skills to make an independent living,

・a letter of guarantee by a person residing in Japan, and

・any other relevant materials are required (one copy for each).

However, a spouse or child of Japanese national or a permanent resident etc. is exempt to submit the documents mentioned above in (i) and (ii)
